· DDE provides a venue for tenders and auctions where they, alongside members, uphold transparent standards (Tender Best Practice Forum).
· Transactions often occur within the DDE’s specialized facilities (e.g. Almas Tower), allowing for secure, insured and monitored trading.
· DDE ensures that stones are traded and are certified by international laboratories (e.g. GIA, GRS).

Secure Transactions-Escrow  Mechanism

An escrow account is a secure temporary holding account managed by a neutral third party to hold funds of the Bidder during the transaction until specific contractual obligations are met. It protects both the Bidder and Limura by ensuring that the Limura receives payment and the Bidder receives the goods. Only when Limura has met all its obligations are the funds released. Escrow accounts have become a cornerstone of secure and efficient transactions providing a third party holding of funds until all contractual obligations are met.

Please note that Limura will pay 100% of escrow agents fee. Depending on the size of the transaction Limura can use any one of the following three escrow service providers:

1. Emirates NBD can offer an escrow account to the Buyer & Seller of gemstones thus providing a secure way of buying and selling gemstones. For this the Buyer must pass due-diligence with the Emirates NBD. Escrow services of the bank are tailored for high-value transactions.

2. DMCC Tradeflow can provide a secure, escrow like service for high value gemstone buy sell transactions, particularly by registering electronically the ownership and title of gemstones stored in accredited UAE based warehouses / vaults, which allows for safe transactions. In a formal gemstone buy sell transaction facilitated by DMCC Tradeflow in Dubai, it is a standard procedure for Bidders/Buyers bank to block funds of the Bidder/Buyer and guarantee payment upon the legal transfer of title. Once payment is guaranteed DMCC Tradeflow can transfer the title to the Bidder/Buyer. It will be necessary for the Bidder/Buyer to open an account with DMCC Tradeflow to receive a seamless, formal transfer of title for gemstones stored in DMCC registered warehouse/ facility. DMCC is owned by the government of UAE. DMCC Tradeflow is DMCC owned entity.

3. Escrow.com. The Buyers/Bidders funds are held securely by escrow.com. The Buyer/Bidder can instruct a secure transport company to inspect and verify the authenticity of gemstones before accepting them. Such inspection is typically only performed by specialized high value logistic providers (like Brinks, Malca-Amit, or Transguard Group) who offer secure transport and have procedures to verify high value items. If a secure transport company or affiliated party inspects the gemstones they usually focus on checking whether the gemstones matches the GIA grading report (in case of polished gemstone) and use gemmological technique to identify if a stone is natural, synthetic, or treated, and also inspect the gemstones to see if it matches Limura’s documentation and listing details.
